Eight centuries of Faith in Almort\u00e3o<\/h3>

2026 is a special year, as we are celebrating the 820th anniversary of Idanha-a-Nova<\/em>, that is, eight centuries since 1206, when King Sancho I, in a letter confirming the donation of Idanha-a-Velha to the Order of the Temple, first used the name Egit\u00e2nia Nova<\/em> (which would later become Idanha-a-Nova). This historical celebration of the Municipality culminates in our most symbolic festival, the Festa da Senhora do Almort\u00e3o<\/em>, one of the oldest pilgrimages in the region where the sound of the typical adufes<\/em> echoes through the countryside, celebrating a devotion that spans generations and defines the soul of our people. <\/p>
